I inherited my fathers, which was his fathers, and his fathers before him, pistol. A Smith & Wesson Safety Hammerless revolver, "A perfect and Safe Arm for the House and the Pocket". So I had it cleaned up, took my Concealed Carry Class, paid the fee, and figured I would need a safe at home, and one for the car for when I am not allowed to my pistol 'in my pocket'.I like the safe, 14 ga. and the cylinder lock. Upon receipt, and a good look, it is a well made box that isn't easily tampered with. I like that it is small and tapered, as it fits nicely in my side table with the cable run around the bed frame. I figure it will fit under the passenger seat. The safe holds my holstered .38 and a 50 round box of ammo. I assume it meets the TSA requirements, but I will thoroughly research this when and if I feel the need to bring my pistol with me. My current job doesn't have me traveling as much, hence the 'rick' I took that this box may or may not meet the TSA requirements.So, a good box at a good price. Be safe guys.I can say that it seems durable and that the cable attachment is good to have so you can lock it down to a stationary object in your house.The way, its hard for someone to steal your gun by stealing the safe, if you have it attached to something. I have the cable looped through part of my bed frame for instance. You could also drill a small hole in anything to loop it through like a book shelf etc. Or attach it to a very heavy kettle bell weight, etc. Anyway, thats all I can say. I can't say how hard it is to force open since I'm not going to ruin it just to find out. I haven't tried cutting the cable so I'm not sure how hard that is to cut through in the event someone tried to do that. I managing its possible to cut with enough effort and sharp enough saw. Anyway, good price overall. Definitely better than just having my gun lying around not in a safe. I certainly don't want to be responsible if anyone ever tried to steal it and do something dumb with it. At least I can say I had it in a safe per California regulations. Thats good enough for now. I might get a larger safe in the future if I get more guns. OR just another one of these. Its not like you have to keep all your guns in the same safe necessarily.This is a nice gun safe. Very well made. I bought the 2700 KL It’s too big to fit under the seat of my 2015 Hyundai Unlimited Tucson. I can put it behind the front seat but it still is too big to slide all the way in and be hidden away. I’m going to keep this at the house and buy the 2600 KL and hopefully that one will fit under my front seat so it can’t be seen by someone if they look in the window of my car. The reason for the 4 stars is I don’t like that I can’t lift the lid all the way up. I also wish that it had a lock and a combination on it to get into it.If you lose your key it states on the instructions they will not replace your key for security which is good but still a combination lock would be nice. I’m happy with my purchase it was under $50Very nice gun safe. This safe is perfect for at home/bed side lock box. The quality is hands down above other manufactures at the moment. The outside of the safe is a rough sand grit texture. The bottom has 4 rubberized feet. The hindge of the box is recessed for increased pry protection. Heavy duty steel. Very nice foam interior. Will easily fit any full sized hand gun and mags. Large enough to fit 2 compact sized handguns.Thick heavy duty cable will take full sized wire cutters and some strenght/time to get through the cable.Very happy with the safe. I would rank it as one of the best personal safes for a snatch and grab scenario. It would take some time for a person to get through this safe even if they had the right tools. If they did not and this was anchored correctly forget about it. This isnt going anywhere.The only downside I have was the height of this safe. I origionally bought both the Hornady keylock and the Hornady trilock safe for comparison as a car lock box. I returned this safe due its height. Unfortunatly it would not fit under my car seat. I kept the Hornady trilock safe however. Very happy with hornadys products very heavy duty and some of the best on the market. Price is very competative as well.Great for the modern business executive or small business owner. It appears' like a humidor or fancy cigar box when setting on your office desk. It has padded feet. The clam shell design is very secure. The second you unlock it, it’s clamshell pops open and you are good to go, substantial and secure design. Glad I bought this model, not the 2600, which is significantly smaller!Delivered as promised undamaged. This was the second XL purchased, much more durable then the less expensive rectangular lock boxes I looked at. To store a Ruger Mark III Hunter or Competition, you will need to remove the barrel and place it in the safe diagonally, with the lower grip section and magazines around it.One CAUTION: don't loose the keys! Even though the keys are numbered, Hornady cannot help you! I was lucky to find a local locksmith that could match the barrel and cuts on the one remaining key for my first safe after loosing a key.I would recommend this for secure transportation of fire arms in luggage on in the trunk of a car.
