Very nice working lock. I only wished it was constructed with much thicker gauge plates, bars, or whatever you call them. In order to make it more difficult to cut them with the larger Professional quality type Bolt cutters that Construction companies have and use.. These locks are very light in weight and very light to carry on your bike using the very nice and handy carry-on sheath that the lock comes with. Very light in weight for those long bike rides you do when light weight matters and may become an issue. Very nice lock. A Very Good quality lock. They say these locks are much more difficult to pick, utilizing a European engineered design. I am Very Happy with purchase. Good light lock for my all around general purpose use on my long workout bike rides. But like with any lock now 'a days, if a thief really wants your bike, no lock will protect your bike, especially if these thieves have access to Professional Construction type bolt cutters, and other Theft tools, etc.You still must keep your eye on your bike At All Times!! --Or definitely don't leave your bike unattended and out of plane sight for a long or extended period of time, especially if you have a $2,000 or more bike!!For those expensive bikes I would still prefer the heavy duty thick shackle of the beefy Kryptonite "New York" Lock, which are very heavy, but They Work! --at least most thieves would pass on bikes locked-up with these locks. --But you still must know how to lock up your bike correctly and lock it up to a good professional Public bike rack that is secured with all bolts present and bolted onto the ground. --No missing lug nuts!Like they say, "A lock is only as good as to what it is locked onto, the weakest link in the chain".I went into a bike shop and asked for the toughest lock they had and the owner told me that he charges the most money to get this one unlocked when people lose their keys. I've had one for about a year and a half and have never had my bike stolen. When I lost the keys, I bought another one (register the key code online and they'll be able to make another, didn't do that the first time). That being said, the store owner also confirmed that, given enough time, any lock is breakable. So just remember to leave it in a common area with lots of traffic instead of hiding it to give thieves enough time to crack it. I also prefer to check on mine when I leave it for periods of time. Been worth the money to me so far and screwing on the holder to my frame has proven to be steady even during bumpier rides (LA roads are killer in some areas).Item was also received on time, in great condition and would purchase again from this seller (Performance Bicycles).Great lock as long as you set your expectations appropriately. No, you cannot lock it up overnight outside and expect to still see it in the morning, zero locks will give you this assurance by the way. Power tools will defeat ALL bicycle locks and hand tools will defeat all but the heaviest beefiest locks in less than 5 minutes.Yes, it will make thieves more likely to look at the bike next to yours with a cable lock unless you've got a really expensive bike. No, it's not as good as a beefy Ulock or chain lock but it's a whole lot more convenient.Super convenient compared to higher security locks like good ULocks or beefy chain locks, the folding design lets it tuck away neatly without interfering with the rest of your bike. Key works well, haven't had problems opening it. Nice soft casing over the hard metal to help protect your paint.Great warranty service, had a problem with the bike mount contraption and Abus took care of me promptly with no hassle. Highly recommended based on that experience.Feels sturdy, definitely heavier and a just a bit larger than it looks in pictures. I love that you can unlock it, remove the key and put them in your pocket, then lock/latch it without the key. The frame mount is versatile, well designed using two seriously thick and sturdy Velcro straps to wrap around a larger range of weirdly-shaped frame tubing, great for the odd shapes of the aluminum frames our family owns. When the segments are unfurled the lock has about the same "area to go around your frame and a bike rack" as a 9" u-lock, but of course with its flexible segments probably offers a bit more ability to go around stuff, like back wheels and the frame, that the stiff shackle of u-locks often have a hard time with.Had this lock for a few months now and I 100% prefer this over the traditional U lock. I've left my bike unattended at parking sign posts for weekends and it is always there when I get back to pick it up. It's flexibility lets me lock up my bike in so many more places. The lock mechanism itself is very solid and hasn't shown any signs of rust or key sticking so far.The weight is about the same as a normal U lock but it is much more compact. Definitely recommend for anyone looking for an alternative to the standard bike lock.I got this bike lock because my old U-Bar lock didn't have a mount and would just rattle on my bike all the time. This bike lock has the added benefit of being able to work with any style of bike stand because of its versatility. It mounts well on the vertical bar of my bike and still has room for a water bottle. These are nice steel bars and I am very confident that bike thieves would be deterred by this strong lock.I would give it a higher rating but am concerned about security vs kryptonite. See product reviews for details. I guess I won't know for sure until it is too late. The form factor is great. Its holder attaches to the frame or in a pocket or in a rando bag slot. It is heavy and so will bounce out over rough grade. Very well made. German construction. Much larger opening than kryptonite makes it easier to lock to a variety of objects. Flexible joints also help here.I bought one of these locks two years ago when I purchased my bike. We recently bought a bike for my wife and how well this has held up and the ease of use made it an easy decision to buy another one for my wife.I've had this lock now for 3 years and it's still as good as it was when I first got it. I needed something to replace a D lock that I lost the key for. I wanted something that in the frame and this was perfect. It was easy to fix to the frame water bottle holder. It's ingenious how it opens out and easily fits round my bike and one of my kids bikes 2. It's impressive that in such a compact space it can be wider than a standard D-Lock. The construction is very solid too. I've hit it with a hammer a few times to test it out and no discernible impact whatsoever.I've been using this now for 3 years, in rain, snow, ice, and hot weather. Really impressed at its strength, durability, ease of use, and compact size.Does what it says on the tin. Comes with a neat holder you can strap on your bike, which works really well. I use it when I want to cycle somewhere without taking a backpack or pannier.I'm by no means an expert but I think I can trust this lock to keep my bike secure for a couple of hours.Problems:- it is barely big enough to lock a bike to anything larger than a traffic sign post. Locking 2 bikes to anything except each other is definitely not possible. Locking a bike to a street lamp? No go.- Makes a very annoying rattling sound when in its holder on the bike. I have thin-ish tyres and this lock makes it possible to hear what kind of asphalt I'm on. Is it going to rattle itself apart? I don't know.Lock got cut after about a month of me having it.There arent any locks out there that can really prevent theft but I left my bike outside for an hour in a relatively safe place (is anywhere safe in Birmingham, UK?) and it got stolen.+1 star for nice presentation and ease of transportation/attachment to the bike.My sister who lives in switzerland uses this lock without problem, however I would advise to get a better lock if living in a higher risk area. I have now been using a kryptonite U lock for months and months with no troubleIf it’s a quick stop it’s a great lock. Not to be used as your primary lock but front wheel to frame is fine. The lock however is easy to bypass if you know how. So only use for your quick release wheel. Don’t risk your whole bike with this lock ? & research locks before making any purchases. This was recommended to me from one of my friend in Germany. His new bike worth 800 Euro would have been stolen if he hadnt got this bike lock. this lock took a heavy bending and hits but still guarded his bike from being stolen. From then on, I prefer Abus bike locks with foldable option as it is convenient to keep in the bike and easy to lock as it gets locked after a single push. Worth all the penny spent on this.
